Hey, I’m Evan—a 40-something queer sex educator, professional nerd, and recent Brandeis University Fellow. I live in Glendale and spend my time balancing high-level disability advocacy with the beautiful chaos of my home life.
What I’m Up To
I’ve been pretty busy lately making moves in the disability and education space. A few highlights:
- The 2026 Carrie Buck Distinguished Fellowship: I’m currently a fellow at Brandeis University, where I’m deep-diving into my work.
- Media & Advocacy: You might have heard me recently on NPR’s 1A, where I was chatting about disability and sex education.
- The Access Archive: I’m currently developing a video project called the Access Archive, aimed at preserving and sharing vital community history.
Home Life & Hobbies
When I’m not being a “distinguished” academic or talking on the radio, I’m usually:
- Nerding out over my sex education business and “Cripping Up Sex” workshops.
- Hanging out with my pets—my cat Romeo (who has very specific dietary demands) and a potential service dog in the near future!
- Sipping an iced coffee, making a killer steak, or catching a play.
- Fueling my love for the Indigo Girls (it’s a 20-year obsession at this point).
The Role
Because I have cerebral palsy, I use a manual wheelchair and a letterboard to communicate. I need physical help with just about everything, but after hiring aides for 30 years, I’ve realized chemistry is the only thing I can’t teach.
I have a very sarcastic sense of humor, and my home is filled with laughter. You’d be joining a fantastic team of aides who are more like a community than just staff. Most of my old aides never truly “leave” because we stay close friends.
If you’re down to help me continue my sex-ed work, support the disability community, and don’t mind a little sarcasm, I think we’ll get along just fine.
